Engineering Jobs Interview Success

By Steven Smith

In times of recession it can be very difficult to get your perfect job when there are so many people applying for the same position. Interview technique which is of a high standard is important in order to ensure you come across as the best candidate for the position.

Before going for the interview be sure you have thought about the types of questions they are likely to ask. This could range from what your strengths are, what your weaknesses are and what your best achievements are. It is important to be prepared for every eventuality. With experience you will discover that often the same types of questions are asked. When answering questions be sure to be positive, future employers will not think well of answers that may be interpreted as negative or speaking of someone badly. In your answers make sure you can use past experience for examples and if you have any paperwork you can bring that will enhance your answers they will appreciate the forethought.

Before the interview make sure you have printed copies of your CV and make sure you have read some information about the company so that you know who they are, what they do and where they are going. It is also good to research into recent industry news so you can bring it up industry topics in the interview to show that you are up to date with your knowledge. It is also good to mention other companies you are speaking to or have had a job offer from - this goes a long way to making employers make the move to offer you a job.

Not only is your experience important your attitude is also very important too. Have a great attitude and you are allowed to be yourself - otherwise the job isn't for you if you have to be someone you're not. If you come out the interview feeling like you had a nice time, the job is more than likely the one you should accept if offered it.

As a note on the side, engineering jobs and logistics jobs are highly competitive in times of recession and it is important to impress recruitment agencies. Often they are the first port of call to find a job and could be the most important first step you make towards getting a new job.
